On this photo album cover, Justin Timberlake is wearing these giant glasses which suggests that he has seen the future and knows that the photo album is going to be a big hit thus having him wear a bow tie and suit which a celebrity would wear for an grammy award for his album. The colour of Justin is black and white except for the lettering which is gold linking with wealth fame and awards. Justin's facial expression is dull because most of his face is covered up with these giant mask and with him seeing his future he says nothing.

selena Gomez- Stars Dance

on this photo album, Selena is in a black and white photo but with only pink lettering which may suggest that the photo album is about her and she is a feminine figure on the album cover. the clothes that she is wearing is this alien goddess look, linking to the album cover name of stars dance. Being this outer space figure of her facial expression in this pose looking like she is confused. the camera shot of the edges is black and dark which is maybe space and she is the bright star in the photo.

Jessie J- Alive

In this photo of Jessie J's album cover, she is shown as this strong and manly figure of not wearing any clothes,shaved head and angry look on eyebrows suggesting that she wants to be shown as this strong and powerful women. Jessie J wears big hoop earrings

In this album cover, Miley Cyrus is shown in which only looks like a coat with her facial expression being this stare with biting her
finger to show sexual gaze. The title "Bangerz in the cover is a
bright neon font which can be linked as being a strip club text with a tropical background. the evidence that she is revealing her legs showing that she may only be wearing that coat invites the stereotype and shows that she what she is.

The album cover is this kind of surreal man with a suitcase in a
foggy forest can be shown as this dream by the artist and that their music is a dream. The bottom of the forest is covered in roses suggesting this romance in a dream of their own. The album cover
tells us that because he has a suitcase he is traveling or going
somewhere different.

Demi Lovato-Unbroken

The album cover for Demi Lovato is herself being this sinister and gothic person to the camera, staring right into the camera she shows her fact and hands being dirty and only in black and white colours. This could suggest a gothic side to her and evil with a cross on her hand representing religion. Her facial expression is her in this dark stars with black lipstick and muddy body which can be shown as an not being an object of desire.

Device-Device

The album cover is a dark and strange looking photo of a man who looks robotic and is in pain with metal tubes around his neck which can be linked with the band being a heavy metal genre and being black and white showing a sinister and evil background to the photo. The person in the photo looks in pain and agony which can be linked with how the music is or not. There is only one colour in the whole of the photo and that is a red "v" which is like many common music albums like Selena Gomez or Justin Timberlake.

In the photo cover, he is shown as being this confused and daydreaming person who looks like he is looking into the future and seeing himself just like Justin Timberlake. His facial posture is lifeless and daydreamy because he pictures himself as being this person who is happy and better. He shows himself as being this clueless rapper who writes good songs.

In the album cover for Eminem, the photo is a black and white photo of a house which his house that he use to live in and how the coloring is black and white representing the past. The house in the photo cover has boarded windows, overgrowth of plants and generally looks rundown meaning that his past was a hard and not an easy life being involved with crime and drugs.

In the photo album for Rihanna, she shows herself being topless with only photos covering up her breasts. She has a facial expression of looking angry and by looking like she is laying down. This photo represents her as being an object of desire and not challenging the stereotype because she is now wearing any shirt and covering the only part that if shown would be seen as pornographic to the the audience.

The standard model “guy” is a pretty straightforward being. When we tell our lady to shut her trap so we can watch some footie, it means just that. There are no hidden messages whatsoever. And it certainly does not mean, “Honey, now is the best time to talk about where this relationship is going.” But as we’ve stressed oh-so-many times in the pages of this very magazine, women on the other hand, are not so much into this business of being straightforward. The word “fine” for example, could mean a million and one things, and it is way better to have all your limbs chopped off by a mega-powered chainsaw than have a woman say the dreaded word too you.

So this month if your girl mutters, “We don’t really need to celebrate Valentine’s Day if you don’t want to,” don’t take it as your cue to jump for joy and spend all the cash on Star Wars Lego. Why? Because there is simply no chance in hell that she actually means it, plus it will take you forever to build one stupid Millennium Falcon.

If anything, it’s simply a test to see if you’re really the sensitive and caring dreamboat that you’ve been pretending to be, or if you’re just, well, a guy. So what do you do? If you really dig the chick – and third base is a great possibility – we recommend you sell all your worldly possessions and spend it all on that one special day. 1. Identify the different 'types' of content in the magazine 
the content is that mainly in women's magazines are mainly on the subjects of fashion, beauty and lifestyle which can brainwash women into what they have to be in becoming a model like they are in the magazine.

2. Describe the layout of the page. From your analysis what gender and type of person is this magazine for?

The layout of the page is in different sizes of each picture on how the most important photos such as the model or clothing is bigger meaning that you should concentrate on what is more important as shown by the magazine designer. The designers try to include contents of the page that are important like seeing someone who is not beautiful and meaning that this is what you could be like  if you don't use products like make up or attempt to make yourself look better. The text below or around the magazines in usually the front of the pages are texts of sentences like '10 ways to get happy' or 'what you'll be wearing next summer'. These sentences in the book are kinds of text that are forcing you to do what they making them have.

3. How would someone hope to benefit from buying this magazine.

they would probably benefit by having inside knowledge on what celebrities wear and what they do but this can never be true at times with lots of evidence to back the writers up. The magazines can usually be filled with gossip and rumors but can give them knowledge of other contents such as fashion, beauty, culture or relationships. Most of the text that is bold on the front cover, draws you in  and makes you apply what is told by the magazine writers and could benefit you with knowledge on those tips but as I have said, not all tips can be true.

In the music video 'Telephone' by Lady Gaga, all the women in the music video are definitely shown as being objects of desire because all of the women are dressed in mainly revealing clothes and have scenes of sexual movement such as kissing, dancing, licking and other motions that are seen as being pornagraphic but although most of the video was in a sexual manor, there were scenes of women being shown as masculine and the men as weak and powerless to the music video. Maybe because of this the music video was trying to show a message of feminine masculinity.
In this music video of Katy perry "part of me", this is a perfect example of how women are not being treated as objects of desire and challenging the stereotype. The video consists of a women that is weak and turns into something strong and with the view of her going into the army with other men and women who are equal in how the army would be. The movement of the video is shown as aggressive to kicking the camera or being shown in an animalistic way by working hard definitely not and object of desire.

How does Laura Mulvey's theory apply to "Dirty" and "Do it like a dude"

In Christina Aguilera's video of "Dirrty" the use of the camera invites sexual gaze by having angles of the camera e.g. close ups on parts of her body. She is shown as being locked in a cage and dancing in front of men with a few other girls behind her looking similarly dressed to Christina Aguilera but the camera is mainly being shown at her and are just for background. The video attempts to show masculinity to the women in the music video by fighting, but they are dressed in very revealing clothes, shortly after they have women and Christina Aguilera in the shower.

Music videos like "Dirrty" can usually have a target audience of mainly men because it is appealing and can be known for being "Eye Candy"e.g. dancing half naked in front of men. The women in "Dirrty" interact with the men in a sexual movement especially when Christina has two men on both sides right next to her grinding and looking like an animal being locked in a cage and having to fight in front of men with very revealing clothes e.g. bikinis, Leather chaps, short skirts, bras and ripped tights.

In Jessie J's "Do it like a Dude" music video, she attempts to change views on how people see girls in music videos and challenges the stereotype. She does have close ups on the face like in "Dirrty" but she makes it different having dark and spiky lips which is not shown as an object of desire to people. The music video shows the men and women as being equal and not having any difference to opposite sex. The movement of the women are not appealing but aggressive to the camera e.g. aggresively grabbing and shaking the camera. Jessie J in the video is more appropriate because her clothes are less revealing and not being anywhere close to any other actor in the music video unlike Christina Aguilera in "Dirrty". some of the audience  still view the video in a voyeuristic way because Jessie J is still doing what an average music girl would do such as wearing partly revealing clothes, sexual dances and kissing scenes but does still make the video unique. The music video show to have been made for audiences like both male and females. This shows examples and links to the song of Katy Perry "Part Of Me" where both videos show that women are equal both women music artist representing themselves as violent, strong and independant.

In conclusion, Laura Mulvey's theory was correct in how women are presented in music videos as being objects of desire but there are people who are challenging the stereotype e.g. Jessie J "Do it like a dude" but music videos like Christina Aguilera "Dirrty" are making it worse for how people are going to see music videos but they can change but music video girls being shown as objects of desire are getting to ridiculous levels.
